What actually is the "dispensing engine"?
It's the clinical safety layer that runs when your pharmacist dispenses — whether the order came from the website or the walk-in counter. It checks the patient's pregnancy, breastfeeding, renal and hepatic status, allergies, and drug–drug interactions against roughly 3,500 drug monographs, and flags anything contraindicated before the medicine is handed over. It's the part no other Kenyan pharmacy platform has.
Why is the hybrid better than just an online store?
An online store takes the order. The hybrid takes the order and makes sure it's safe to dispense. A pregnant customer ordering an NSAID, a renal patient ordering the wrong dose, a dangerous interaction between two items in one basket — the engine catches these before anything ships. For a pharmacist, that's the difference between selling medicine and practising pharmacy.
Is this allowed by the PPB?
The store runs under your own premise licence and superintendent, shown on every page, and the software enforces the internet-pharmacy guidelines automatically: prescription-only medicine is never promoted, nothing is dispensed before your pharmacist approves it, prescriptions are filed as A4 legal records with an independent counter-check, and controlled drugs are registered automatically. It was built by a licensed Pharmaceutical Technologist around those guidelines.
We already have a POS / we use WhatsApp for orders.
Both are fine. If you have a POS you like, take just the dispensing engine and keep your counter as it is. If you run orders on WhatsApp, keep the megaphone — put a link to a store that sells correctly at 11pm, takes M-Pesa cleanly, and dispenses safely behind it. You can start with one piece and switch on the rest later; it's the same system.
Whose customers and data are they?
Yours. Customers, orders and prices belong to your pharmacy. Your till is self-hosted, so your clinical data stays with you. If you ever leave, you get a full export. We charge a flat fee — we never sell your data and never take a cut of your sales.
Who does the deliveries?
Your own rider or boda partner, registered in one minute. They get a simple phone app: paid orders appear the moment payment lands, with the address and the customer's number, and they capture a signed proof-of-delivery photo. Customers track it live.
